Terry Williamson spent two hours making precise turns and loops at about 7,500 feet altitude to write a special message in the sky: “Will you marry me, Taylor?”. The gesture, visible only through flight trackers, was directed at his girlfriend, Taylor Burcham, who regularly follows the pilot’s flights to ensure everything is okay.

Burcham, who works at a coffee shop, saw the proposal during her routine check on FlightRadar and was moved by the surprise. “I always check the radar just for safety. I was really surprised. It was totally unexpected,” she told local channel KAKE.

Williamson said the plan required a lot of preparation and that he was inspired by traditional skywriting messages but wanted to add his own bold touch. He was piloting his Bonanza P-35 and faced significant physical challenges during the maneuver. “Halfway through the second word, I understood why most people just write ‘Marry me’. I almost vomited. There were so many Gs, so many turns… It was exhausting, but worth every second,” he shared.

The route drawn in the sky covered about 48 kilometers between the cities of Pratt and Arlington. Although they have not set a wedding date yet, the couple is already thinking of celebrating with an aviation-themed party.

“Of course, I said yes,” Taylor concluded, laughing.
